Acupuncture has been performed at the Wheelhouse for the past 5 and a half years by one of our vets, Viki Ayres.
It is a natural way to treat a wide range of conditions, from arthritis to incontinence. Treatment takes place in the consulting room and a typical session lasts 15 minutes. Sterile needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points to release endorphins (naturally produced pain killers), healing factors and
anti-inflammatories. These allow healing or alleviation of symptoms to occur. It is usually very well tolerated by pets and most owners are very pleased with the outcome. An initial course of 4 weekly sessions is performed and thereafter single top up treatments are given as required.
