Registered Veterinary Nurse

Want something a bit different, out of the box even?

Looking to find that balance between insanely busy referral and general 1st opinion while working with a team that looks out for each other when the proverbial hits the fan?

Providing good veterinary and having fun are at the top of our list of priorities. Lots of socials, lots of cake (especially on spleen Fridays) and relentless abuse of the boss means we generally have a good time but work hard.

By putting a strong emphasis on personal development, we now have a practice with over 20 team members either having or undergoing a certificate, with lots of opportunity for team members to find their particular interest and progress their careers.

The nursing team take on a lot of responsibility including: rehab clinics (including laser), a variety of other nurse clinics, wards, anaesthetics and keeping the vets in line on a daily basis.

Our nurses are well supported by the leadership team including head nurses, deputy head nurses and group nursing manager (and our practice manager is an RVN so naturally understands nurses are more important than vets…).

Salary range £26,000 - £31,000 based on full time but part time applications are welcome.

About Us

The Wheelhouse Vets are a fully equipped and modernised RCVS accredited practice striving to achieve the highest standard of care in South Buckinghamshire. We have surgeries in Chesham, Chalfont St Giles, Amersham, and Beaconsfield.
We are constantly evolving to suit our patients needs and client’s expectations. We have endoscope, laparoscopic bitch spays, ultrasound scanner, DR and CR Radiography, Class 4 Laser, 4 consult rooms and an in-house Lab. We have lots of members of the veterinary team either engaged in or having achieved certificates in ophthalmology, physiotherapy, dentistry, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, small animal medicine, feline medicine, and dermatology. We also have members of the team with a special interest in animal behaviour and dog training and of course wellbeing.

As a practice we strongly believe in providing our team members with a nurturing and caring environment. We actively encourage and fully support team members’ professional ambitions by providing opportunities to develop with regular well-funded CPD. The excellent care and service that we provide to our clients and their pets is very important to us. A big part of being able to provide this is through ensuring that our team are fully equipped with all the tools that they need and working in the best possible environment. As a practice, we actively support a number of different charities both locally and nationally each year including StreetVet, Marjorie Nash Cat Rescue, and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Applicant Requirements:

The successful candidate will require competence and confidence in nursing in a primary care practice. They would also need to be kind, considerate, positive, and happy to use their initiative.  We pride ourselves on being forward thinking and maintaining a high standard of veterinary care. Our nurses are held in high regard and are given the opportunity to use the skills they have learnt in all aspects of their job. We are a training practice for Veterinary nurses so there will be opportunity to either use or gain skills in mentoring the next generation of RVNs.
