What Does A Dermatology Consult Include?

What Does a Dermatology Consult Include?

Initial Consult-60 minutes:

  • Thorough review of clinical history and pre-appointment questionnaire
  • Review of any existing laboratory reports
  • Full physical assessment
  • In house cytology as appropriate: Ear swabs, Tape strips from affected skin, Hair plucks
  • Discussion regarding treatment options

Stella may also choose to perform additional external tests if she deems these appropriate, which may include blood tests, swabs for culture and sensitivity or fungal cultures.

Based on her findings Stella will then discuss the best treatment plan going forward for your pet and will also send you a follow up email to discuss your pet’s treatment plan.

Stella will arrange any follow up consultations if needed, to ensure the best case continuity possible for you and your pet.

What Cases Can We See?

Stella can see a wide range of dermatological conditions including:

  • Pruritus (itchy skin)
  • Recurrent or ongoing ear infections
  • Allergic skin disease
  • Pododermatitis (inflamed and painful paws)
  • Crusty or scabby skin condition
  • Overgrooming or hair loss in cats

This list is not exhaustive and if you feel your pet may benefit from our Dermatology service, please ask your vet to speak to our team, or call the practice so we can advise further.

Prices

Prices

Our prices are usually significantly lower than at specialist referral centres and so can be a good option for clients and pets who cannot proceed with full specialist referral.

If you are interested in knowing more about the prices involved please do give our reception team a call or pop them an email at reception@wheelhousevets.co.uk.

Booking An Appointment

How Do I Arrange An Appointment For This Service?

If you are already a Wheelhouse client, please discuss this with your usual vet, who can arrange for you to be seen by the Dermatology clinical service.

If you are not already registered with the Wheelhouse Vets, then please contact your usual vet to request an appointment with our Dermatology clinical service.

A member of our team will then give you a call to book your appointment, and also confirm the booking via email, which will include your pre-appointment questionnaire.
